Records [manuscript]. 1956-1964.

Approximately 170 pieces comprising correspondence with the author, his agent, libel lawyers, a film producer and others, together with internal memoranda, readers' reports, promotional material, etc. (1956-1964). During this period Hutchinson published two novels by Braddon, "Gabriel comes to 24" and "Proud American boy". The files include 10 letters from Braddon (9 autograph), 2 of which complain at length about what the author saw as the publisher's lack of support of his work. In other letter Braddon urges a quick decision on acceptance of "Proud American boy". The readers' reports include one from F.V. Morley for "Proud American boy". Also present is Braddon's 2-page typescript blurb for this book as well as his revision of Hutchinson's own blurb for "Gabriel comes to 24"
